Premalignant lesions are more commonly known as Actinic Keratoses. When the sun rays falls directly on the skin, rough and scaly patches are formed and these patches can be the symptoms of skin cancer.

Although more than five million Americans have these lesions, no one should ignore them. Squamous cell carcinomas that are the second cause of skin cancer deahts in the US, doctors think that about 40% of them start out as AKs.

Therefore, major cancr related organizations like the American Cancer Society advise that you get help quickly if you have AKs.
