Did You Make a New Year's Resolution to Lose Weight?

If you’re like many of us, you made a New Year’s resolution to lose weight in 2012.  Here’s some advice to help you get off to a good start:

  1. Write down your goals and keep them in a place you will see them daily.  Include the answer to this question, “Why is this goal important to me?”
  2. Set small, realistic, and specific goals with measured time tables to help you accomplish your final goal.  Losing weight in stages will build your confidence.  For example, if losing 30 pounds by May 17, 2012 is your target weight,  break this down into weekly or daily goals such as “no sugar for 3 days” or “no soda for 1 week”.
  3. Schedule an appointment with yourself every week to measure success and hold yourself accountable.  Re-assess your strategy if necessary.
