Treatable Conditions > Hyperpigmentation

Skin normally contains some cells called melanocytes. These produce the brown pigment melanin, which naturally colors skin. In several disorders, melanocytes become abnormal or irregularly distributed. Pale regions of the skin can result if melanocytes become fewer or less active in a given area, while areas with more or more active melanocytes will become darker or will more easily tan.

Skin bronzing is often confused with suntanning. It tends to start at pressure points like the knees, knuckles, and elbows, and then spreads to other body parts. It may also occur in the palms of the hands and creases of the feet. Light to dark bronze colors may occur, especially in fair-skinned people, and the cause of the bronzing will often determine the intensity.

Hyperpigmentation can be on your face, neck, hands, and chest. These places are very visible, and this is where our clients want to look their best.

At AesthetiCare, we treat hyperpigmentation with a wide variety of FDA approved lasers and light systems, as well as crystal-free microdermabrasion, chemical peels, and advanced skincare products. Results can often be seen after one treatment but normally require a series of treatments for maximum results.
